what are dreamwalks?

The astrology chart teaches us that we are each made up of different sub-personalities, people within us who have their own desires and styles of getting their needs met. Dreamwalking takes this understanding one step further. With an experienced guide you can consciously enter your inner archetypal world and interact with the people and creatures who inhabit your being.

There is a universe inside your body bounded by your skin, and within that universe is a centre, a home place where you belong. In this inner world, you are God–you are the one responsible, with the power to help and heal. In a Dreamwalk, you learn how to use that power appropriate and self-lovingly.

In most people, this centre has gone unvisited for a very long time. Most of us spend our conscious time thinking of other things, paying attention to externals, and as a consequence we lose the ability to stay present with ourselves even in our dreams.

The first order of business in a Dreamwalk is to visit your center and establish a presence there. The second is to meet and get to know the people who populate your inner world, who have been left on their own for the most part. These people will know you; they have been waiting for you, wanting you. You will find them to be very familiar. Their struggles and issues are yours, precisely mirroring the struggles and issues that plague you in your outer lives.

Through the course of a series of Dreamwalks, you will learn ways to balance the struggles and gain the trust of you previously-disconnected inner selves. You will wield the power that is rightfully yours when required and appropriate to enact magic and make sweeping regime changes, with an eye toward doing only what is obvious and necessary. The goal in Dreamwalking is self-discovery, making changes and balancing as gently and unobtrusively as possible.

“As without, so within.” The corollary to that statement is, “As within, so without.” It is the premise of Dreamwalking that changes in the inner world will precipitate changes in the outer. As you make friends with yourselves and facilitate the release of ancient power struggles; as you parent lost children and clean and organize your home place, you will find your outer life flowing more easily as a result.

Dreamwalking is not easy. Often intense emotions are triggered. The innate resistance to exploring the darkest places which most call for the light of your conscious presence can be immense. We are heavily conditioned to avoid, so at first, the exploration of the inner world is a struggle. The help of an experienced guide is crucial in the beginning especially.

What can you expect? Different people have different experiences. Some people find their inner world is a Faerieland, a paradise where everything is wonderful. And some people find obvious problems, haunted houses, scary forests and monsters. With time and exploration, the Faerielands reveal problems, too; for it is a truism that if there were no problems then our outer lives would be problem-free as well!

After a series of Dreamwalks, you will be left with a strong connection to your inner world and a safe, comfortable and homey place to go when you need to rest and recuperate. Your Dreamwalk innerworld is a perfect setting for meditation, while the people you meet there will become long-term friends and allies.
