Most parents tend to try to give their child what they themselves needed as children. This approach is often wrong, for children may be very different from their parents. For example, a parent with an Earth-element moon may, with the best of intentions, stifle and oppress a child who happens to have a Fire-element moon by giving them too much safety and security when the child craves fun and adventure.
The purpose of an astrology reading for a child or infant is, of course, not to help the child understand themselves (though the reading can prove invaluable as the child comes to an age where it is appropriate to share it; the age depends on the individual child) but to help parents to understand their child’s needs, so that they can be an ally for their children’s growth rather than an opposing force and cause of suffering.
