about me

pixie-face-1.jpgWild childhood in Northern BC, raised without electricity or running water. This predisposed me for ‘Gaiafication’ (an epiphanic experience of the entityhood of the planet); now, Gaia is my passion. Everything I do is directed toward facilitating the Gaiafication of the world, for it seems to me that nothing less will save us from our own lack of awareness of what we really are: parts of, not apart from nature. For twenty years, I have lived in relative isolation on Hornby Island in British Columbia, with stints in Edmonton and Boston somewhere in the middle. Recently moved to greater accessibility on Vancouver Island, I feel called to bring my work to the public through various venues, including this website.

I work toward the healing integration and expression of the feminine principles (which exist in both men and women): the physical and emotional bodies and Big Wholly Momma Earth, which have been neglected to the point of global and personal disaster.

Me and Astrology

I was triggered into a tsunami of change by my Saturn Return in the mid-eighties. Although initially skeptical of astrology I received a reading which proved stunningly accurate and detailed and quite burst my preconceived notions.

I fell in love with the beauty, relevance and flexibility of the astrological language. I began an in-depth study, but felt something important missing from the system. Then I discovered a single paragraph in March & McEvers’ book ‘The Only Way To Learn Astrology’ which described the significance and meaning of planet Earth .

That was it! Failing to find more than that one paragraph in all the texts I was devouring, still, I began to use Earth in my own chart with excellent results, and when I included also the newly-discovered Chiron (according to Barbara Hand Clow in “Chiron: Rainbow Bridge to the Outer Planets)” I felt the needed balance and symmetry had been achieved. I began using my system in client readings to their apparent great satisfaction.

The addition of Earth and Chiron as rulers of Taurus and Virgo meant twelve planets ruled twelve signs and made the astrological equation balance. It became possible to perform readings of much greater depth and finely-tuned accuracy.

pwca_concert2.jpgme and songwriting

I began writing songs around the same time. Though I sang constantly growing up, with a repertoire of hundreds of songs, I had never thought of myself as a songwriter. In fact, I never wrote much of anything other than school assignments and the occasional gossipy letter. Then, one fateful day when I was struggling to find a way to say something difficult to an ex-boyfriend, a man suggested that I write him a song.

What an outrageous idea! The suggestion seemed to come from some other planet, yet dismiss it though I might, it reverberated relentlessly in my brain. At last I sat down and tried it. Tried… to write… a song. Who’da thunk?

It was a struggle to get started, but after the first verse the song flowed effortlessly, and the feeling that flowed with it transported me into ecstasies I had never known. Bliss! The door to song, once cracked, remained open. Now, writing and singing my own songs is a profound joy and the great passion of my life. I write to celebrate the resolution of emotional issues, to channel ideas I am not capable of grasping any other way, to express my joy and to transform my pain. Songwriting is pure, delicious fun. The only thing I enjoy more than writing a song is singing it. It has been, truly, a gift that has kept giving, and I’m very grateful to the guy who made the suggestion. Terry, I thank you. Blessed be.

I began singing my songs a capella at first at poetry readings, open mics and festivals. Since then, I’ve picked up the guitar and very much enjoy the new colours it adds to my palette. Still, I can’t consider myself primarily a guitar player. My motto with guitar is ‘keep it simple’. My favourite moments are still those in which I put my whole body and soul into the act of singing without having to bother with another instrument. For this reason, I like to maintain a repertoire of a capella songs.
