my project for 2010
It’s a little past the New Year, but I feel like taking on another daily challenge, or as close to daily as I can manage (giving myself lots of rope). My photography project (the arty self-portraits) for this year is to focus on expressing emotion through the photos.
That seemed to invite joining poetry with the photos, which serves the bonus purpose of keeping me writing. Here’s the first few installments.
frozen heart
Sad eyes
gaze quizzical
from bluezone
distances
hope froze over
long ago
and now
nothing ever happens
her veins have changed
from hot flood
to lacy traceries
no more beating heart
strength of will
keep your eye on the ball
never deviate from plan
focus
focus
this is the moment
this precise one
that will change
your life
forever
gaia eyes
when you know
the one in all
when you see
the sparrow fall
and melt into
the ground
nothing’s lost
that can’t be
found
nothing ends
that isn’t born
and no sheep
shall be unshorn
one eye blind
listen to me, damn you
yes you
and hear what I say
there is no way
but through the back door
no eye to see with
but the blind one
no voice but the
raucous caw of crow
and the strident rasp
of crone
to tell you
where to go
the watcher
it was long ago
but i have not forgot
i watch the spot
i will not forget
i will not lose sight
i will guide them
through the night
with the strength
of my faith
and the light
of my gaze
i have not forgot
