Somebody commented on this on &lt;a href="http://wordofmouth.earthmatrix.net/blog/" rel="nofollow"&gt;Word of Mouth&lt;/a&gt; where this started... thought I'd transfer his comment and my response over here, because someone else might be wondering the same thing.

To clarify... I believe it doesn't matter &lt;strong&gt;because we need to act as if it is true that humans are causing global warming&lt;/strong&gt; as a starting point. The fact is, if we do what we can to prevent global warming on the assumption that we're causing it, and we're wrong about that, the consequences of the error are far less lethal than if we fail to act and are then proved to be wrong about THAT. So, it doesn't matter. We have to act as if, because the cost of being wrong is not affordable. 

However, we DO need to be very careful about HOW we act. IE, going to a technology like nuclear power, with its utterly non-recyclable, virtually permanently poisonous byproducts, is a cure worse than the illness, imo. 

Sustainable technology. Holistic science. Gaia.</description>
